Loyal Owners Relish in Lorde Royals Victory

It was an extremely rewarding day for the team following the impressive fresh-up performance produced by Lorde Royals (pictured) when taking breaking his maiden in the second race on the card at Matamata over 1200m.

Dead-heating the event with fellow Postponed galloper, Simplicity, Lorde Royals rewarded a great group of owners, including Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum, who had their patience tested following a string of setbacks endured in the early stages of his career.

The son of Postponed has always shown above average ability, beating champion two-year-old Marky Mark in his first trial, before a lack lustre performance on debut was put down to the colt sustaining a wind issue which required surgery.

More than six months passed from his last outing to yesterday and the young three-year-old showed plenty of courage and determination in his fresh-up performance.

“We didn’t quite know what to expect from. We know he’s always had the ability, it was just a question of whether he still wanted to be there and I think he answered it well,” co-trainer Chad Ormsby said.

“He ticked a lot of boxes today and not many have done what he’s able to produce after a wind operation, so I hope for the owners that he can kick on and go on with it.”

Lorde Royals was purchased at the 2014 Karaka Yearling Sales by Paul Moroney Bloodstock for $45,000 and is raced by the Ballymore Mens Syndicate, Vermair Racing Ltd, Gary Williams, Neville Bidois & Soone Gee Tong.
