Queensland Cup For Mister Impatience

The stable has enjoyed a good record in Brisbane over recent years and it was good to round off this year's winter carnival with a stakes winner - Mister Impatience outstaying his rivals in the Listed Queensland Cup.

Relishing every step of the 3200m contest, the imported five-year-old travelled nicely for Robbie Fradd but had to make his run a bit later than planned after running into a bit of trouble.

But Mister Impatience showed good heart, putting his head down right where it counts, winning by a nose.

"I probably should have won more easily as I got held up when I wanted to get out," Fradd reported.

It was a second win from his last three starts of Mister Impatience who was set for the Queensland Cup after a runaway victory over 3000m at Ballarat in late May.

Stopping in Sydney enroute to Brisbane, unplaced when back in distance at Randwick (beaten by Soviet Courage who franked that form also winning on Saturday), Mister Impatience did not relish the very heavy going that day.

But on a soft track at the Sunshine Coast he was at his best and Michael Moroney was delighted.

"It is very satisfying to see a long range plan come off," he said.

The stable's representative at Sunshine Coast, John Pisani, noted Moroney's great record in Queensland - "he seems to be able to pick the right races for his horses in the winter and he usually gets a winner or two up here each year."

It was a second Queensland Cup victory for us with a stable favourite Tinseltown successful in the same race in 2011.

On the back of good form in the UK, Mister Impatience was selected by Paul Moroney at the Tattersalls Autumn Horse In Training Sale in October 2013. He was unplaced during his first Australian campaign but now fully acclimatised has been performing consistently.

A son Hernando and the Listed winner Katy Nowaitee, Mister Impatience is a half-brother to the US Gr.3 winner Tottie from the immediate family of Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks winners Sally Brown and Untold.

A descendant of the influential matriarch Simon's Shoes, Mister Impatience hails from one of the world's great families - that of Sadler's Wells, Nureyev, Fairy King and Thatching. Mister Impatience is line-bred to this family via Ridan and Nureyev.
