Misty Shines At Debut

It was a perfect debut for the talented filly Misty Waters at Moonee Valley on Monday, the two-year-old Choisir filly jumping straight to the front in the 4Tracks4Kids Plate and staying there - giving a nice kick over the final stages to seal a 1 1/4 length victory.

Always travelling well for Jake Noonan, the bay had her ears pricked throughout and looked the winner from before the turn with her rivals all off the bit and chasing.

Michael Moroney, who has always had a good opinion of the well related filly, was confident that the 1000m would suit the speedy filly and he was happy watching the race - "I could see she was travelling as good as any of them turning in," he said.

"She has always shown speed," he said, noting that "she is still tad on the immature side but she has got natural ability."

"She is not a big filly but she is quite strong and at this stage, so long as she keeps eating and doing things right, we will go on with her."

Jake Noonan said that Misty Waters gave him a good feel throughout - "she travelled well and we got some nice sectionals so I was pretty confident."

"She did the same thing in her jump-out a couple of weeks ago - she just flies and lands in front and after walking the track I thought the inside was the place to be so I was happy to be there."

A home-bred for Lomar Park Stud's Fred Peisah, Misty Waters is a full sister to the triple stakes winner Kid Choisir out of the three times city winning Mister C mare Friendly Seas.

Served last spring by Star Witness, she hails from the family of classy sprinters Razor Sharp, Steel Blade, Moment's Pleasure, Rock The Moment, Super Elegant, Social Ruler, Follow The Till, Elegancy, Mister Elegant, Regal Cheer and Robian Steel.
