Two Mares Ready to Shine

Ballymore sees out the week with runners in Victoria and New South Wales – Suspicious Minds heading to Kyneton on Thursday and Asadauskaite (pictured) to Rosehill on Friday.

To be ridden by Daniel Moor in the Kyneton Best & Less Handicap over 2025m, Suspicious Minds is nicely primed for a step up in distance at her fifth run back.

A Benalla winner over a mile before a solid Moonee Valley fourth – racing on pace in a race run to suit the back-markers, Suspicious Minds is down in class with the only concern a “little bit of a tough gate.”

Drawn the outside gate of eight, Suspicious Minds has been pleasing the stable with her work – “we have been really happy with her,” Michael Moroney said, “she has been going very well.”

Moroney is confident of a bold showing from Asadauskaite in Sydney, the talented four-year-old looking well placed in the Schweppes Handicap over 1800m.

To be ridden by Blake Shinn, the Pentire mare was only just beaten over a mile at Warwick Farm last time out and Moroney is happy that there is so much in her favour.

“It is going to be wet which she loves and she is at the right distance now.”

“She should prove very, very hard to beat.”
