Graphic to head exciting group of runners for Ellerslie

This year’s Group 2 Wellington Cup winner, Graphic (pictured), heads an exciting group of runners to line up at Ellerslie tomorrow as he looks to contest the Group 3 Eagle Technology Stakes over 1600m.

Graphic will be having his second start this preparation and goes into the race with an unbeaten record over the distance and in a second up state.

“He’s flying and we couldn’t be happier with him at this stage,” said co-trainer Chad Ormsby.

“He’s a better horse this year and even though he’s had time between runs we think he will be hard to beat tomorrow.”

Graphic’s regular rider Craig Grylls will be continuing his association with the talented galloper for tomorrow’s feature event on the card.

The Listed Trevor Eagle Memorial Stakes for three-year-olds over 1500m will be contested by a hot field and Ballymore will be represented by two runners with Flavigny and Divissima.

“She’s (Flavigny) is a really good filly and she didn’t get much luck last time out, so we can forgive her for that, but she gets a deserved chance at black-type tomorrow.”

Divissima, the second runner of the three-year-old pair, looks to step up in distance and will have her chance to claim deserved black-type.

“She’s been working very well in her lead up to tomorrow’s race and we feel the step up in distance will suit her.”

“Divissima is a classy horse and at her best and she is certainly up there with quality of the runners presented for tomorrow’s field.”

Up and coming stayer, The Fire Inside, will contest race one on the card and will look to make it back to back victories following an impressive performance at Tauranga earlier in the month.

“This race is right within her reach, and it’s not an overly strong field, so we feel she is very capable of winning the race.”

“She’s a horse we really rate and we think she is going to be even better the older she gets and the further she goes.”

Impressive Australian first start winner, Margin Trader, will step out in the Rating 65 event over 1600m, and while there is still a bit of unknown about the horse, his first start suggests he can go on with it.

“His debut win was very impressive, and he still did plenty wrong, so we are excited to see what he can offer in his first start here in NZ.”

“He has settled back into NZ well and is doing everything right. The further he gets the better he will be and we think he is well placed for a crack at the NZ Derby next March.”
