Thursday Trio

We will decide on Thursday morning whether we run both of our promising young horses in the 1400m Maiden Plate at Seymour but whichever way we go, both Solomon’s Bolt and Rising Stock are horses to follow.

Catching the eye when finishing off strongly when third at Ararat first up, Solomon’s Bolt will relish the extra 200m and he has drawn nicely in barrier four for Daniel Moor.

“His first up run was a long way better than what he showed during his debut campaign,” said Michael Moroney, “and he has trained on well.”

“Hopefully he is a horse on the improve.”

Right in the thick of things at both of his runs this campaign, Rising Stock – who jumps from barrier seven for Chris Symons – looks close to a win.

“His two recent runs have been really good and he probably should’ve won last time – he was held up and didn’t get out until it was all over.”

“He has been knocking on the door and should prove hard to beat.”

We also have a NSW runner on Thursday, The Bunsta resuming in a 1350m maiden at Wyong.

Drawn barrier six for Jason Collett, the lightly raced four-year-old has trialled nicely and the blinkers go on – but Moroney is expecting the trip to prove a little short for the son of Pentire.

“He has been coming along nicely but whatever he shows first up he will improve on,” he said.
