Ballymore Celebrate Winning Double at Tauranga

The three-year-old daughter by Mastercrafstman, Flavigny (pictured), recorded the first of a winning double for the team when taking honours in the maiden event over 1300m in the hands of jockey Mark du Plessis.

Gifted a lovely run in behind the leaders, Flavigny traveled beautifully throughout the running before wearing down her opponents in the home stretch to win stylishly by one length.

“She’s done well to win here today and she’s won like a good horse,” said co-trainer Chad Ormsby.

“Mark (du Plessis) was really happy with the run and feels there is more improvement there. We think she could be an exciting horse.”

Owned by Mrs H G & W G Bax and Windsor Park Stud, Flavigny is from the Point Given mare Sharp Point who derives from a line of world class gallopers that include Oaks winner Slightly Dangerous, Derby winner Commander in Chief, dual Group 1 winner Warning and Yashmak.

The second winner came in the form of Bachelor Duke filly, Golden Glow, who was super impressive at the line rolling the short priced favourite who traveled like the winner throughout.

“She won very impressively and we think she could be a nice staying horse in the making,” said co-trainer Chad Ormsby.

“Her last start performance was huge and she’s come along very nicely since.”

Golden Glow is from Gold Brose mare Aztec Queen and is a close relation to Australian dual Group 2 winner Sound Journey and Macau Cup winner Let Go.
