Suspicious Minds getting ready for Adelaide

A filly who has shown good potential in New Zealand, Suspicious Minds makes her Australian debut in the Polytrack Handicap at Sandown on Wednesday.

Having her first run since late January, the lightly raced daughter of Alamosa has finished close up at all five of her starts to date - breaking her maiden in impressive fashion over 1800m in late December.

"She has been freshened up for her trip to Australia," Michael Moroney said, happy to have secured the services of Damien Oliver.

"The 1400m may be a bit too short for her but she has had a bit of work so it will be interesting to see how she goes."

A bargain $NZ20,000 purchase for Paul Moroney at the 2012 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale, Suspicious Minds hails from a sprinter/miler family with her grandam being the stakes winner Trotanoy.

However her dam is by Montjeu from whom she seems to have inherited some stamina and we are hopeful that she can progress to black type over the Adelaide carnival.

Meanwhile on Thursday we head to Cranbourne with Zazparella (pictured) who contests the Highview Accounting Services Showcase F&M BM70 Handicap.

To be ridden from barrier one by Brad Rawiller, the daughter of Al Maher strips hard fit for recent racing and has shown improvement at each run this time in.

Just beaten at Moonee Valley last time out, Zazaparella is, says Moroney "well placed."

"It looks a nice race for her and she should prove hard to beat."
