Ballymore To Bendigo

It is a quiet weekend for Ballymore with just the two runners at Bendigo's stand alone Saturday meeting - but hopefully both, About Square and Sunset Magic, can acquit themselves well.

Lining up in the second event, the Jayco Handicap, talented sprinter About Square (pictured) is having his first run since finishing down the track at Flemington in mid-February.

An impressive winner of the Sale Quality at his previous outing, the four-year-old pulled up with muscle soreness that has been treated and a much improved showing is expected.

"He is better now," Michael Moroney reported.

"I am a bit wary of the fact that he has had a month between runs but he does look to be the best horse in the race."

Later in the day promising Zabeel mare Sunset Magic takes his place in the Centrebet Stayers Challenge Final.

To be ridden by Jake Noonan from the inside gate, the four-year-old broke her maiden in strong fashion at Caulfield two starts back - stepping up in class and distance at Bendigo on February 20 and again running well.

Finishing off gamely on that occasion to finish second to Malabar Man, Sunset Magic has progressed nicely since and Moroney is confident that the run over 2400m will have improved her.

"She is nicely weighted and we are really happy with her," he said whilst admitting that "it is a very strong race."

Meanwhile Voleuse de Coeurs has come on well since her excellent Australian Cup run. Her next run will be in The BMW over the autumn carnival.
