Two Cities, Two Runners

It may not be a particularly busy weekend for the stable but we are taking horses far afield on Saturday and Sunday with Malan heading to Morphettville, The Hotz to Randwick and Lordoftheparrots to Camperdown.

Taking his place in the final event on the Adelaide card - the Dominant Handicap, Malan has drawn nicely in barrier six for in-form jockey Dom Tourneur.

Catching the eye with charging home to only just miss out on the prize at his latest outing at Kyneton, Malan was not at his best at that track and the bigger space that is Morphettville is bound to suit.

"He just struggled around the tight turns," Ballymore racing manager Anthony Feroce reported, adding that the four-year-old "has trained on well and should prove hard to beat."

Racing in good form in New Zealand of late, The Hotz contests the Scruffy Murphy's Handicap in Sydney and as a horse who has won twice on slow tracks he will not be unsuited with the sting out.

"It was a good, strong win last start," Feroce reported, "and he has settled very well since he arrived in Sydney."

To jump from barrier five with Jason Collett aboard, The Hotz boasts a consistent record with three wins and five placings from 15 starts.

This year's Colac Cup is being held at Camperdown and we are hopeful that Lordoftheparrots can come away with the prize.

He too has drawn nicely - barrier two for Andrew Mallyon - and he looks nicely placed after his terrific last start second at Moonee Valley.

"It was good to see him come back to form last start," Feroce said, "and he is a strong winning chance on Sunday."
