Winning Treble for Ballymore NZ

Ballymore NZ has been on a winning spree this week with Chad saddling-up a winning treble courtesy of Liberare, The Fire Inside, and Xalted.

Liberare opened the stable win account on Saturday at Counties, when she out finished a highly-rated Fastnet Rock colt in the Campbell Tyson 1600m.

The talented daughter of Dylan Thomas had been the bridesmaid on three occasions prior to Saturday, but the Ballymore Stables NZ Ltd, R S Dockary & Murphy Road Ltd-owned mare wasn’t to be denied on this occasion, claiming the well-deserved win.

“The stable has always had a high opinion of this mare and it was only a matter of time before she found herself in the winners circle” said Chad.

“She didn’t have it all her own way on Saturday, jumping slowly and then finding herself in a tricky spot just before the turn. Once in clear air she really put in over the final stages to win impressively, beating a very expensive Fastnet Rock colt in the process” he added.

Following in Liberare’s winning footsteps at Te Rapa a day later, stablemate The Fire Inside went one better than her last start second to score impressively over a mile for jockey Mark Sweeney.

It was just the third raceday outing for the Betalert Ltd, I E McCarrison, P A Moroney, J A Vaughan & G J Williams-owned filly, who looks to have a bright future ahead of her this summer.

"She was travelling like a winner throughout and kicked away so nicely in the home straight, showing real class to dig deep over the final stages to hold-off her opposition" said Chad of her winning effort.

“She has pulled up really well and we’ll look for another suitable race for her over the next two-three weeks”.

Not letting the fairer sex of the team have it all their own way, stable stalwart Xalted chimed in later in the week, making a welcome return to the winners enclosure.

The seven-year-old son of Pentire has seen plenty of racing turf in his career, including three runs over fences this winter, but repaid his faithful owners for their perseverance, notching up career win number three.

With 10 Ballymore team members accepted for racing at Ellerslie and Te Aroha on Saturday and Monday respectively, let’s hope the winning roll continues into the week ahead.
