Ormsby Hopeful Of Stable/Stud Quinella

Ballymore Stables filly The Fire Inside will look to complete a career trifecta at just her third raceday outing, when she steps out in the Crombie Lockwood 1600m at Te Rapa on Sunday.

The promising three-year-old daughter of Sir Percy commenced her racing career with a third placing at Paeroa in October, and followed this up with a second at Counties two weeks later. She will look to go one better in the hands of regular raceday jockey Mark Sweeney this weekend to complete her 3-2-1 formline.

Owned by Betalert Ltd, long-time stable client Ian McCarrison, Paul Moroney, J A Vaughan & G J Williams, The Fire Inside has impressed co-trainer Chad Ormsby with her work this week, with Chad buoyant about the filly’s opportunity to clear maiden ranks this weekend.

“The Fire Inside continues to improve and there is a high expectation within the stable that she will clear maidens on Sunday” said Ormsby.

“She has a great attitude and work ethic and she would certainly deserve the win” he added.

Ormsby will also saddle-up stable-mate Asadauskaite in the same race, with the similarly experience filly also looking to improve on her most recent raceday placing.

Asadaukaite, a talented daughter of Pentire, was 3rd at Tauranga over 1600m on November 2nd, showing plenty of galloping ability over the final stages to finish off her race strongly.

Owned by W & K Purchase, P Antonieff, B Harry, C Lord, J Mewis, G Singh, M Stapleton & P Ward, Asadauskaite will be ridden by Michael Dee and has drawn barrier 11.

“Asadauskaite is also in the race and both fillies are on the improve, and are having their second go at the mile” said Ormsby.

“Obviously the ideal result is a dead-heat with our fillies noses in the judges photo, but I would also settle for a stable quinella” he added.

It would be a result that Matamata-based Stud Rich Hill would also applaud, with the leading thoroughbred nursery standing the sires of both fillies in Sir Percy and Pentire.
