Confidence!

"A very confident weekend" said a hopeful Michael Moroney on Friday - extremely happy with the condition all five of Ballymore's weekend runners are in - "I wouldn't be surprised if they all won," he enthused.

Kicking off our hopefully big weekend is Mrs Hadlee who contests the third race, the Richard Hogg Handicap, at Caulfield on Saturday.

"We are really happy with her," Moroney said of the consistent Hat Trick filly - "and she is drawn nicely and well weighted."

"Her main opponents in the race look to have their share of weight," he said, adding that "she deserves to win one of these races."

Lining up in the following race, the Dimitrios Tzouvelis Handicap, Awesome Goal is nicely primed for a step up in distance.

"He has always looked like a 2400m horse," Moroney said - pleased with the Golan gelding's latest performance from a wide gate.

"He has drawn better this time so he won't have to go so far back," he said, adding that "he should prove pretty hard to beat."

Classy filly Octavia strips hard fit third up in the Daniel McMillan Handicap and with the claim of Kayla Nisbet is nicely weighted on 51kg.

"She is weighted to win," Moroney said, noting that "there does not look to be a lot of speed in the race."

"She could get a soft lead if that's the way we decide to go - we will see how the track is playing."

Only just beaten at both of her runs this preparation, Octavia was somewhat unlucky at her latest, Moroney noting that "she was not in the best part of the track."

Sunday starts early for us with Milkwood racing in the opening event at Sandown, the Evergreen Turf Handicap over 2400m.

"She is on the back-up," Moroney said of the Dylan Thomas filly who won at Sale last weekend - "but she does like wet ground and she looks like an out-and-out stayer."

"She was impressive winning last start," he continued, "and she looks well placed with the claim."

"She is a mare we have always liked - she has real ability."

Bishops Castle is the last of our five weekend chances, the three-year-old due to race in the seventh event, the Catanach's Jewellers Handicap.

"It looks the right race for him," Moroney said, with his only question mark being on the heavy going.

"If he gets through it he is a really good chance."

The stable was in winning for at Sandown on Wednesday with Zazparella recording a gutsy victory - and a significant victory it was too, Ballymore's 100th for the season.

Making a couple of runs in the race, the Al Maher filly had a fight on her hands in the straight when the leader fought back but she was not to be denied and she attacked the line strongly.

"It was a really good tough win," Moroney said - "and she ran through the line like she will get more ground."

"We will roll the dice with her and run her over 2000m at Flemington on Saturday week."
