Happy On Heavy?

We are hoping that our two Wednesday Sandown runners - Zazparella and Savvy Dancer - will relish the demanding conditions with the track already rated a heavy 10.

Both horses have some wet track form in New Zealand although, Michael Moroney said, "not on tracks quite so heavy as this one is going to be."

A game last start Echuca second after making the pace, Zazaparella (pictured) has pleased us with her progress since and she will be ridden by in-form apprentice Patrick Moloney in the Sportingbet MaxiDiv Handicap.

"She has been racing and training really well," Moroney reported, adding that providing she does handle the conditions "she should prove pretty competitive."

An honest filly who has been in the first three at each of her last five starts, Zazparella has drawn the inside gate.

We wait till the final race of the day for our second Sandown runner, Savvy Dancer taking his place in the Sportingbet Handicap over 1800m.

Coming in soundly at the weights after the claim of Jordan Childs, the five-year-old has been out of form in Sydney of late and we are hoping a return to Melbourne may see him find his best.

"On his New Zealand form he was well and truly up to open class here," Moroney said, disappointed that the Savabeel gelding has been "racing so badly."

"We can't find any reason for his form," he said but he is hoping that a drop in grade will help - "on his best form this is an easy race for him," he said.
