Happy New Year!

Ballymore sees in the New Year with two runners in feature events at Flemington on Tuesday - Muirfield taking his place in the Listed Bagot Handicap whilst Bonnie Mac (pictured) resumes in the Gr.3 Standish Handicap.

Sound at his recent outings and hard fit for them, Muirfield steps up to 2800m for the first time and we are using the race to see if the son of Don Eduardo can stay.

"We can't fault him," said racing manager Anthony Feroce, "in fact he has been working exceptionally well. The only question mark is whether he stays the trip as he can over-race a bit but this is a nice test for him."

A horse who is not unsuited drawn out, Muirfield will jump from barrier 11 with Nick Hall to take the ride.

Hopefully we will be cheering home a running double with the Standish being the next race on the card - and we are hopeful that Bonnie Mac can find her best form after recovering well from a wind operation.

A promising mare who has won five of her eight starts to date, the daughter of the late Thorn Park has been working well.

"She is ready for her first up run," said Feroce, "and we have been very pleased with her."

"It can be tricky for a horse having its first run down the straight - it is something new - but we are expecting a forward showing."

Bonnie Mac will also be ridden by Nick Hall and she has drawn barrier 13.
