A Busy Friday

The third race at Colac has a nice $100,000 bonus attached for graduate of Inglis sales and we have two of those, the promising debutants Tanana and Eye Succeed.

As luck - rather bad luck - would have it, both fillies have unfortunately drawn outside gates but we are hoping for nice performances from both.

The Cambridge Stud bred Tanana jumps from barrier 12 with Beau Mertens aboard and we have been happy with her work and her jump-outs.

The daughter of Almanzor is "a filly who will be better once she gets out over further," but this is a nice starting point for her.

"Hopefully she can get a bit of cover early and hit the line late," Glen said of the well related mare whose grandam is the mighty Eight Carat's Group 1 winning daughter Marquise.

Jumping from barrier 10 with Shane Foley aboard, Eye Succeed will also need a bit of luck but she too is coming along nicely at the jump-outs.

"Her efforts have been very good and if she can take her work to the races and have a little bit of luck from that gate she can be in the finish," said Glen.

Both of our Moonee Valley runners have opened up favourite; Oak Hill (photo courtesy of Darryl Sherer) and Stylish both talented gallopers racing in good form.

As capable second up (in fact unbeaten!) as he is fresh, Oak Hill created a big impression storming home to an impressive first up win at Moonee Valley two weeks ago and he has been in fine fettle since.

"He gives every indication that he has done very well in between runs," Glen reported, "and if he takes his A game like he did first up he is again the one to beat."

"We have not had to do much with him in between runs and he is nice and bright, hopefully he has some luck from that gate (barrier 8 of nine runners) and win again."

Up a little in class, Oak Hill is down in weight in the fourth race, a BM78 955m contest and he again has the services of Damian Lane.

Speaking of in-form jockeys, Blake Shinn is flying and he takes the ride on Stylish who looks hard to beat in the seventh race, a 1600m BM74 event.

Unfortunately she too has drawn an outside gate but with cover she can be finishing off strongly as she has done at her last two starts at Caulfield and Flemington.

She has been kept up to the mark with a Flemington jump-out, coming through that "in grade order."

"This is a good race for her and she should be right in the mix."
