Looking nicely placed over 1950m from a good gate with Jake Noonan aboard, the attractive Sacred Falls mare Kowhai (pictured, photo courtesy of Racing Photos) has not had things go right in her two runs this time in but she has been close up on both occasions and strips fitter for them.

"She has trained on really well," Michael said, "and she is due some luck."

"She is in her right grade and on her work and what we've seen of her two runs this time in she should go very close."

Fort Laramie was well down the track at his latest outing, found to have a case of cardiac arrhythmia.

"They can come of that and have it never happen again," Michael said, adding that "he has had a bit of time between runs but we've done a bit of work with him and he looks fit enough."

"We will try to go forward with him and hopefully he can put himself right in the race."
