Kowhai and Bancory Bay race for us today at Mornington and Moonee Valley.

Kowhai runs in race seven at Mornington over 2050 metres with Connor Murtagh aboard and drawn barrier one.

The daughter of Sacred Falls ran well first-up and Mike Moroney said has pleased in trackwork since.

“She’s trained on really well and we could not be happier with her,” Mike said. “The barrier is a help and the step up in trip is also in her favour.

“If we did happen to get the forecast rain and there was some ease in the ground that will not harm her chances and all things being equal we think she is a winning hope in what looks an even sort of race.”

Last start winner Bancory Bay (pictured) is in the first race at Moonee Valley over 2040 metres with Jye McNeil to ride and he too has drawn nicely in barrier two.

“He has also trained on well since his good last start win and he’s still improving,” Mike said.

“There looks a bit of speed in the race which should allow him to sit in behind them. We've added a tongue-tie to help him and provided he can get into the clear at the right time then he should not be far away and with an ounce of luck he’s a winning chance.”
