CAVALRY MAN GOES BACK-TO-BACK

Cavalry Man backed up stable confidence making it back-to-back wins in a strong display at Kyneton today.

Up in trip and enjoying a positive ride from Declan Bates, Cavalry Man came from third place before the home turn to accelerate clear in the home straight to win the benchmark 64 contest in game style with co-trainer Glen Thompson more than satisfied with the result.

“We came here confident he would run well and he has,” Glen said. “It’s always difficult to win your maiden and then repeat it next start at this level but he’s done that nicely.

“He’s by So You Think and was bought by the stable as a yearling. We’ve taken our time with him and there is scope for further improvement, he’s come back stronger this preparation and it is showing in his races so it’s onwards and upwards from here.”

Declan Bates was complimentary about Cavalry Man.

“He began well today and travelled strongly all the way," Declan said. "He really lengthened well off the bend and quickened up, he maybe just switched off a bit late but he was good through the line.

“He’s got to step up in grade now but he’s done well and it’s all positive.”
