MILFORD IS UP FOR THE CUP AT SALE

Three runners at Sale for us today including Milford in the feature race.

The $200,000 Sale Cup in race seven over 1600 metres with Milford (pictured)to be ridden by Patrick Moloney and drawn barrier six.

Co-trainer Glen Thompson said the son of Savabeel has freshened up nicely.

“His jump out last week was good and he’s very well in himself,” Glen said.

“The drop back in distance should suit him, we think he’s at his best when ridden quietly and with something to chase and we think that is how today’s race could play out.

“It’s a small field but competitive race as you would expect and we are anticipating him to prove hard to beat.

Bancory Bay and Gunner both run in the first race over 1400 metres with Billy Egan to ride Bancory Bay and Blaike McDougall aboard Gunner.

“Bancory Bay starts a new preparation today and he has done everything right leading into it,” Glen said.

“He’s worked up well, his jumpout was solid and he’s there in good order.

“There look a couple of chances in the race but we feel if our horse runs up to his work he will be running well.

“Gunner has also been doing everything right at home and his gallop on Thursday was very pleasing in company with Bancory Bay.

“He shapes as though he will be better over further but today looks a nice race to get this preparation started and we will be looking for him to be finishing off nicely as we aim to build him up in trip.”
