SHE'S CERTAINLY A FILLY ON THE RISE

Certain Rise went some way towards justifying the lofty opinion held of her with a stylish win in today’s Crockett Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Leading most of the way, Certain Rise was travelling smoothly on the home turn and then comfortably held the late rally from Zoubaby to score by three-quarters of a length and add the valuable stakes form to her pedigree in this $175,000 1200-metre sprint, to the delight of co-trainer Glen Thompson.

“That was very satisfying,” Glen said. “She’s always shown us plenty of ability and it is terrific to see her fulfilling her potential.

“We came here confident she would run well and she has done that so it’s a great result not just for the stable but for Yulong. She’s a stakes winner now, by a champion stallion in Written Tycoon and with more natural improvement to come we think.

“We will let the dust settle from today and then consider our options but she is certainly a filly on the rise.”

Blake Shinn echoed those sentiments.

"She made it pretty easy for me. She's got good tactical speed, she got (off to) a flyer at the start," he said.

"There was a little bit of pressure early but once she was able to find the top and get a mid-race breather, she was always going to be hard to run down.

"We thought we had a pretty good horse at the first start, but we got rolled by a Group horse. It's just great for the team. It's great for Yulong, I think they've got a very smart filly on their hands.”
