BUSY SATURDAY AT CAULFIELD

A busy Saturday for us at Caulfield with seven runners, starting in the first with Whisky On The Hill.

Damian Lane is in the saddle and co-trainer Glen Thompson said the import will be better suited over today’s distance of 2000 metres.

“He’s in really good order and has improved for the last run and has worked well this week,” Glen said.

“The barrier is a bit tricky but I’d imagine he’ll be in the second half of the field and be hitting the line hard.

“If he runs up to his work then I’m expecting him to run well and be in the finish.”

Japanese Emperor runs in the second race over 1600 metres with Declan Bates riding.

“He continues to work well and has drawn a good barrier today which is a positive,” Glen said.

“It’s a strong looking race however, he looks well and if he runs up to his work then he will be competitive.”

We saddle three in the Testa Rossa Stakes over 1400 metres, Celine Gaudrey on Buffalo River, Blake Shinn on Run Harry Run (pictured) and Declan Bates aboard Bermadez.

Run Harry Run has come back in really good order, we’ve been very happy with his progress and jump outs,” Glen said.

“We’ll leave it Blake from the barrier but with some ordinary luck we feel our horse is up to the task and will run well.

“Buffalo River has done well from his last start, he’s eating weel, gets Celine back on and over a bit shorter today he can go there and run a bold race, particularly over this track and distance.

“Bermadez is also in good order and we’re happy with him,” Glen said.

“His jump outs have been good and this a good starting point for him. Whatever he does today he will improve on but we do expect him to run well in what does look an open race.”

Jungle Jim starts a new campaign in race six over 1100 metres with Jordan Childs riding.

“He’s bouncing at home and his last jump out was good,” Glen said. “Like all the races today they look open but to be expected at this time of the year.

“He’s drawn well, has eon first-up previously so I’m confident he will go there and run his usual bold race.”

Bankers Choice rounds out our day in the Naturalism Stakes over 2000 metres with Damian Lane riding.

“He’s going there in very good order, his jump out last week in blinkers was very good it is so disappointing he has drawn the outside.

“Had he drawn a better barrier we expected him to be hard to beat but from the barrier then we just have to ride him quiet and give him his chance to finish off.

“If he can get things go his way then we think he can run a big race.”
