FEATURE RUNNERS TODAY AT CAULFIELD

Three runners for us at Caulfield today including the evergreen Buffalo River in the feature event.

Buffalo River (pictured) has a terrific record at Caulfield and he runs in the eighth race, the Group 2 P B Lawrence Stakes over 1400 metres with Ben Melham to ride.

Buffy has come back in good order and the team is delighted with the way he has trialled coming into today.

“He has had three jump outs to be very fit for today's assignment and Ben has ridden him in all three,” co-trainer Glen Thompson said.

“He has been very happy with the way he has jumped out and so are we. As is his usual pattern he will be up on the speed and all things being equal we think he goes there in good order is a winning chance in what looks a typically competitive affair.”

Bankers Choice also runs in the Lawrence with Damian Lane aboard.

“We are delighted with the way hehas come back this time in and have no doubt the long spell has done wonders,” Glen said.

“His jump outs have been terrific and Damian was able to ride him in the last one which is a plus going into today's race.

“It is a shame he has drawn so wide which will mean he will have to go back and that will make it a far more difficult assignment but we still expect him to run very well at big odds.”

The Pendragon starts a new preparation in the race before, the Regal Roller Stakes at Listed level over 1200 metres with Blake Shinn to ride.

“We are very happy with the way he has come back and he has had a faultless preparation going into today,” Glen said.

“Both his jump outs have been excellent and Blake was able to ride him both times and has stuck with him. He has drawn ideally and should end up in the first four in running.

“We feel that if he can settle in the run with his excellent turn of foot at the end he is a strong each-way chance.”
