GEAR CHANGE FOR OAK HILL TODAY

Oak Hill and General Firepower are our runners at Caulfield today.

Oak Hill (pictured) runs in race seven over 1100 metres with Damian Lane aboard and the team has made a gear change for today’s race.

“We have added a Kyneton nose band to his gear to stop him from throwing his head up and it has helped him in his track work and at the jump out last week,” Mike Moroney explained.

“Damian rode him in the jump out last Friday and he was very happy with the way he went and is undefeated on him.

“The only query we have today is if he handles the soft track. If he does from barrier four and with good speed in the race we are confident that he will be running well.”

General Firepower is the first to go in race two and the weather has played a part in his entry.

“We have elected to run today on the soft 7 track as the alternative was next Wednesday at Sandown but heavy rain is forecast for Sunday, Monday & Tuesday,” Mike said.

“He is in an early race so we are hopeful that the track isn't too bad for him and he has some soft track form. He has worked strongly going into this race and is holding his condition well.

“He has drawn ideally in barrier eight so he can get across at his leisure which suits him and with Celine's claim we feel that if he gets through the going he is a good each way chance.”
