A BUSY WEDNESDAY ON THE LAKESIDE

A busy Wednesday for us with four runners on the Lakeside Course at Sandown including last start winner Oak Hill.

Oak Hill (pictured) runs in the eighth race over 1000 metres with Damien Lane riding and Mike Moroney says the exciting son of Per Incanto has thrived since his first-up win.

“Oak Hill is in great order and he has worked impressively going into this run,” Mike said.

“He has had a jump out between runs where he went around without a cross-over noseband and he didn't throw his head around as much so we have taken it off for this run.

“He has drawn a lovely barrier in three after scratchings and we feel that he can win again.”

General Firepower runs in the seventh race with Blake Shinn in the saddle.

“He gets back on a good track which he prefers and as last start the wide barrier isn't a concern as he can take his time to get across,” Mike said.

“He continues to work very well and staying in a benchmark 70 rating race we feel he is a strong winning chance.”

Pacific Cross runs in race four over 1600 metres with Daniel Stackhouse aboard.

“She steps up to the 1600 metres which we feel will suit as she is out of a Zabeel mare and is the family of Caulfield Cup winner Affinity,” Mike reasoned.

“Her work has been good and from a lovely barrier draw she should get every chance and we are expecting her to be running in the money in what looks an even sort of field.”

Favanna is the first to go in race three with Michael Dee riding from the outside barrier in a field of eight.

“She continues to work very well and we are happy with her going into today,” Mike said.

“We have left the one eyed blinker and pricker on as we feel the combination made her go straight last start.

“We are trying her at 1400 metres for the first time and she has a very awkward draw. Depending on how she jumps she will either go forward and sit outside the leader or if she is a little slow out we will ride her back, but we will leave that up to Michael to decide.”
