HERE COMES THE CAVALRY

Three runners for us on the Lakeside course at Sandown today.

Cavalry Man is the first to go in race two over 1600 metres with Danial Stackhouse to ride and Mike Moroney is anticipating the son of So You Think will appreciate the Sandown track.

“I was not all disappointed with his last start second at Pakenham to what appears to a smart import who also runs at this meeting,” Mike said.

“Our horse has done well since and I think he should be well suited by today’s circuit.

“He just got a little bit lost in the straight at Pakenham so we’ve added blinkers to help him concentrate and if they have the desired effect then I am expecting him to run well.”

Pacific Cross (pictured) starts a new preparation in the fifth race over 1400 metres with Celine Gaudrey in the saddle.

“She’s a filly we like and she has come back in good order,” Mike said.

“Her debut win at Pakenham was impressive and she was far from disgraced at Listed level at her only other start.

“She’s struck a handy looking race but she is a filly we have a bit of time for and it is good to have her back at the races.”

Exzello rounds out our day in the eighth race with Laura Lafferty aboard.

“Luckily he’s gained a start with scratchings and he’s in good order,” Mike said.

“It’s a step up in class and he’s bumping into the import that beat Cavalry Man at Pakenham but our horse is nice and fit, has drawn well and he’s there to run a nice race.”
