PROMISING WIN BY TIVACI FILLY

Having just her third start, Cintivee (3 f Tivaci – Cindy Cee, by Savabeel) recorded a very good win in the $25,000 Haunui Farm Maiden 3YO 1400 metres on 20 March at Pukekohe.

Indicating ability when winning both trials before going to the races, Cintivee was off the trail to finish second on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 11 February at Tauranga, and a touch green when seeking a gap before finishing well for fifth in the Maiden 1200 metres on 29 February at Matamata.

With Niranjan Parmar aboard, who also combined for the trial wins, Cintivee was into stride quickly from barrier eight to lead and after getting along at a genuine clip she responded to draw away for a dominant two and a quarter length victory.

On Good4 footing, Cintivee ran 1400 metres in 1:23.4 and paid $8.80 & $2.30 on the NZ TAB tote.

“She had been crying out for 1400 metres, but a couple of runs over 1200 metres first didn’t do her any harm and she’s definitely got the ability,” said Pam Gerard, who trains in partnership with Mike Moroney.

“It was good to get Parmar back on, because obviously he’d ridden at the trials, knows her well and has a good opinion of her.

“We thought the track at Pukekohe would suit her better because she’s a filly that needs big open spaces and would be able to get running without having to chop and change strides around tighter tracks.

“Also, she’s a big filly that is starting to take shape and learn a lot more, not as green as what she was, and the race looked ideal for her.

“We expected a fairly bold showing and it’s great to get a win for Garry Chittick and the team there at Waikato Stud, because they’re big players in the industry and we certainly value their support.

“She loved getting to 1400 metres and even a mile could be just what she needs. But good to get a win on the board early in her career and she should take a lot of a benefit from it.”

By Waikato Stud stallion Tivaci (High Chaparral), trained by Mike Moroney to win an All Aged Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) and race against the best to win six times to 1600 metres in Australia, his sire is world-class racehorse High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells), who in turn has become a hugely successful sire of sires.

Cintivee is the third individual winner for dam Cindy Cee, in addition to Fall For Cindy (Sacred Falls) and Willinga Freefall (Sacred Falls), with three and four wins respecitively.

Cindy Cee, by Waikato Stud stallion and eight-time Champion Sire Savabeel (Zabeel), is a half-sister to Group Two winner Sports Illustrated (Fast ‘n’ Famous), while third dam Flying Floozie (Pompeii Court) is the dam of Starcraft (Soviet Star), a world-class galloper and five-time Group One winner that claimed titles of Champion 3YO in Australia, Champion Sprinter in New Zealand, and the Champion Miler in Europe.

Cintivee was strapped by Leelu Singh.
