A TRIO AT PAKENHAM

Three runners for us tonight at Pakenham including last start winner Metrical.

Metrical (pictured) runs in race seven over 1400 metres with Jamie Mott aboard and the son of Time Test has pleased Mike Moroney since his strong win at Ballarat.

“He’s in good order and has done well since his good win last start,” Mike said.

Ordinarily I’d be happy with barrier two but it might make things a bit awkward for him if he doesn’t jump with them but we’ll leave that up to Jamie.

“The horse is fit and well and he’s certainly good enough to win again with ordinary luck.”

Stylish starts a new preparation in race three over 1200 metres with Daniel Stackhouse to ride.

“She’s come back in really good order after a long break,” Mike said.

“I’ve kept her a little bit on the fresh side and whatever she does tonight she will improve on but she’s good enough and forward enough to run a cheeky race.”

Kowhai runs in the fourth race over 1600 metres under Laura Lafferty.

“I was satisfied with her first-up run where I thought Laura rode her well,” Mike said.

“The opposition has dropped away but it’s still a handy lot. If our mare jumps on terms with them we’d like to be a bit more positive and press forward but we will have to see how it pans out.

“I do think she is going to be better over a bit further but tonight has dropped away in numbers and it’s a good course for her so all things being equal she’s there to run well.”
