Three Saturday runners for us with an early start at home, Bermadez the first to go in the second race.

Jye McNeil will ride Bermadez who has drawn barrier two and has had a freshen up since his last start at Caulfield.

“We’ve freshened him up, he’s nice and fit and we’re happy with him,” Mike said.

“I’m not worried about his fitness level, it’s more about keeping him happy and feeling well.

“He’s drawn to get a lovely run and he should be hard to beat with ordinary luck.”

Last start winner Peru takes his chance in the Group 2 Sires’ Produce Stakes over 1400 metres with Rhys McLeod in the saddle.

“We used the jumpout over 1000 metres as his main gallop and I was happy with him and we’ve just kept him ticking over since,” Mike said.

“He’s had a nice prep and while it’s an obvious step up in class and if he maintains his level of improvement then he deserves his place.

“The trip should not be an issue looking at his female family and he’s there in good order and ready to run well.”

Pink Chandon (pictured) is in race six, the Group 2 A V Kewney Stakes over 1600 metres with Jamie Kah to ride.

“She’s drawn out but we’re not concerned as she is not the quickest away,” Mike said. “I’m happy with her and I’ve added blinkers to sharpen her.

“I’m confident she is up to this level and if the blinkers can focus her then I do think she is good enough to win.”
