WINNING CHANCES ON AUSTRALIA DAY

Four runners for us at Caulfield on Australia Day, starting with Untethered in the first race.

Untethered will be ridden by Jordan Childs in the 2400 metre benchmark handicap and Mike Moroney

“He’s nice and fit and the plan will be to press forward, when he can lead he actually relaxes in front.

“It’s a step up in grade for him but he’s very well in himself and if he can get some luck from the start i do think he will be hard to beat.”

Buffalo River and Not An Option both run in race seven, the John Dillon Stakes over 1400 metres with Celine Gaudrey on Buffalo River and Luke Currie riding Not An Option (pictured).

“Buffalo River is in good order and I thought he went terrific in his recent jump out at Werribee.

“He’s predictable in as much as he makes his own luck, the small field is probably an advantage and with an unchallenged lead through the early stages i think he will prove hard to get past.

“Not An Option has done well since his last start win and he should get a nice run with Buffalo River setting the tempo.

“He’s very well in himself and I think his stablemate is the one he has to beat and it would be lovely to run the quinella.”

Tasman Park rounds out the day in race eight over 1400 metres with Blake Shinn aboard from barrier three.

“He’s going well and we’re putting a cross-over nose band on to try to get him to relax,” Mike said.

“If that can help and he can rate himself a bit better then he’s definitely good enough to win with ordinary luck in running.”
