FERDINAND DELIVERS AT KILMORE

Run Harry Run lived up to his name and Mike Moroney’s pre-race confidence with a dominant win at Kilmore today.

Breaking sharply and leading through the early stages, Run Harry Run was first to turn for home under Daniel Stackhouse and was never headed, running out the one-length winner of the 3YO Maiden over 1450 metres.

Mike Moroney said in his pre-race notes he expected Run Harry Run to ‘prove hard to beat’ and he was delighted to see the son of Written Tycoon break his maiden second time out.

“I thought it was a really good win and typical of Run Harry Run,” Mike said. “He’s got such a great nature, he relaxed in front and was always in control of the race.

“Daniel said he still has a lot more to come, he was having a good look around and did it quite comfortably.

“He’s like Ferdinand The Bull now he’s a gelding, everyone in the stable wants to ride him and as I said, he’s got such a lovely nature and he's a pleasure to have around."

The 1937 Disney film tells the story tells the story of a bull who would rather smell flowers than fight in bullfights and Mike suggests there are more wins in store for Ballymore's own Ferdinand.

“Today was a nice race to win with the VOBIS money and he’s definitely got a future, we’ll let the dust settle and then see how he comes through today but he’s certainly got some nice opportunities coming up and he’s horse with a promising future.”
