EMISSARY IN GROUP ONE ACTION

Emissary, Snapper and Not An Option race for us at home today headed by Emissary in the feature Turnbull Stakes.

Jamie Kah is aboard Emissary (pictured) in the Group 1 contest over 2000 metres and last year’s Melbourne Cup runner-up is pleasing Mike Moroney in his build-up to Australia’s greatest race.

“We’re happy with him, he’s coming along nicely and training well,” Mike said.

“He’s tightened up considerably after two runs back and the way he ran through the line last start was most encouraging.

“He has struck a particularly strong strong renewal of the race but he’s in great order, the track will be ideal and I’m looking to a big run from him today as we head towards the Cups.”

Snapper runs in the ninth race, the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes and he too has pleased at trackwork this week.

"He came back pretty big and he's trimmed up for his two runs back," Mike said. "I gave him a solid gallop on Tuesday and he pleased me.

"He likes the straight course, it's a strong field but he should be in the firing line for a long way."

Not An Option has regular partner Patrick Moloney aboard in the last race of he day, the Paris Lane Stakes at Listed level over 1400 metres.

“He too is in good order and his gallop on Tuesday was nice and sharp,” Mike said. “The field today is strong and I’m not entirely sure barrier one is ideal for him but we’ll leave that up to Patrick.

“He’s better for his first-up run and provided he can have a clear run today I’m expecting him to run well.”
