A Bonnie victory

Creating a fine impression at her Australian debut, exciting mare Bonnie Mac looked the goods recording a strong first up victory at Ballarat on Thursday.

Showing good pace to sit outside the leader, the lightly raced four-year-old took over from the turn and just kept going strongly to win by nearly a length with a big gap between the second and third horses.

The winner of her last three from a total of four starts, Bonnie Mac had won two in a row in New Zealand over the summer before joining the Flemington stables.

Raced by Christine and Ian McCarrison, she is a NZ$90,000 Karaka graduate selected by Paul Moroney. A daughter of the Stradbroke Handicap winner Thorn Park, she is out of the stakes placed two times winner Gold Class.
