WEDNESDAY WINNING CHANCES ON THE HILLSIDE

Let’s Say Grace, Metrical, Refreshing and Tasman Park are our runners in consecutive races on Sandown’s Hillside course today where the track is rated a soft (5).

Let’s Say Grace is the first to go in the third race over 2400 metres with Jamie Mott in the saddle and Mike Moroney says will be better suited by the firmer ground today.

“She struggled here on a heavy track last start and she will be better off on a better track today,” Mike said.

“She’s nice and fit now after three runs this time in and she is out beyond 2100 metres for the first time.

“It looks a handy enough race for the fillies and mares with a couple of last start winners and some interstate visitors so it will not be easy by any means but she is there to run well.”

Last start winner Refreshing in race four over 1400 metres under Damien Oliver.

“I thought she did well in the conditions to break her maiden here on a heavy track last start,” Mike said.

“Today is obviously tougher but I’m happy with her, she’s trained on well and she’s drawn to advantage in barrier two so she should be in the firing line most of the way.

“She’s racing beyond 1200 metres for the first time today and if she handles that then I expect her to be in the finish.”

Blake Shinn partners Metrical (pictured) again in the fifth race over 1400 metres and is bidding for consecutive wins following an impressive Bendigo Maiden win last month.

“It was a bit of a surprise that it took him that long to break his maiden but he had run well in Group and Listed races in New Zealand so he had been highly tried,” Mike said.

“The horse he beat last start came out and won his next start so the form has stood up and while he is up in class today he is a horse we have always had a good opinion of and I do think he’s up to today’s level at least.

“He gets a nice weight drop, has drawn nicely and I expect him to be hard to beat.”

Tasman Park and Wiremu Pinn round out our day in the sixth race over 1600 metres.

“Well he certainly deserves a win after two second place finishes at his last two starts,” Mike said.

“He’s a winner on this course and the ground will not be an issue for him.

“We’ve claimed to help him, the small field will make it interesting however, with ordinary luck he has certainly got a winning chance.”
