WEATHER WATCH AT FLEMINGTON

Milford and Bermadez represent us at home today in the same race at Flemington and Mike has an eye on the weather.

Both run in the eight race over 2000 metres with Wiremu Pinn aboard Milford and Declan Bates riding Bermadez (pictured).

Milford just missed last start and Mike Moroney feels the son of Savabeel is ready to peak today.

“He’s trained on well and a firmer track is in his favour,” Mike said. “He meets Normandy Bridge well at the weights and the only little issue I have is the barrier and getting the right run.

“Wiremu needs to time his run right and if he can get the right run, he’s going really well and I do think he will be hard to beat.

“Bermadez worked very well on Tuesday, probably the best he has this preparation,” Mike said.

“In contrast to Milford he would prefer a bit of cut in the ground, he’s been racing like he’s ready for the step up to 2000 metres so we will find out today.

“The conditions will dictate the way the race will be run, there doesn’t look a huge amount of early speed in the race but he’s as well as can be and with the addition of a shadow roll, if he puts his best hoof forward then he will be in the finish.”
