Three to Sandown

Fresh from weekend success with Flashy Fella (pictured, courtesy of Daryl Sherer), the stable send three runners to Sandown on Wednesday.

Our first runner for the day is promising import Garud who steps up the 1800m of the Sportingbet Handicap after a tough win over 1400m at his first Australian outing.

Having his first run since last win (a win over a mile at Nottingham), the son of High Chaparral overcame a tricky gate to win at Ballarat and he again has an awkward draw to contend with.

"It is another tough gate," Michael Moroney said, "but he has trained on well and the further he goes the better he'll get - he should again prove hard to beat with Oliver back aboard."

Later in the day Ballymore will be represented by two runners in the seventh event, the Ahern's Handicap over 1400m.

First up since the spring is promising stayer The Deep South who Moroney says will improve with racing.

"He is a pretty chubby type of horse," he said.

"He has had a couple of jumps-outs but I'd expect him to prove harder to beat second up. In saying that he is a horse with good ability."

Better suited at the trip is Chabrier who strips hard fit third up, having run nicely at his first two this campaign.

"He has drawn nicely (barrier 6) for Glen Boss and he looks a pretty good chance," Moroney said.
