A BUSY BALLYMORE FRIDAY

It’s a busy Ballymore Friday with six runners at Geelong this afternoon then under lights at Moonee Valley this evening with Roch ’N’ Horse in the feature William Reid Stakes.

Jamie Mott continues his partnership with the dual Group 1 winner (pictured) who has pleased Mike Moroney since her unplaced run in the Newmarket Handicap.

“We’re happy with, she continues to look terrific and her gallop on the grass Tuesday was excellent,” Mike said.

“It’s a tough race as you would expect at this elite level but we know she is good enough, so much will depend on how the race is run and where she gets to - in hindsight she was probably a bit too close to a hot early speed last start but with ordinary luck tonight I’m anticipating she will run well.”

Ceasar runs in the first race over 1600 metres with Mike electing to take advantage of Laura Lafferty’s claim.

“He’s in great order and I can’t fault him,” Mike said. “We’ve got Laura aboard and her claim will help as the topweight was my one concerned.

“He’s a pretty straightforward ride and Laura is very capable so all we need is a trouble free run and he can easily make it back-to-back wins.”

So You See runs in the Sunline Stakes over 1600 metres with Jamie Mott aboard.

“She’s done well from her last start and she’s nice and fit,” Mike said. “It’s a small field so my one little concern is that it is truly run and if it is, then I will be disappointed if she does not run well, even if she is not ideally suited by the set-weight conditions.”

At Geelong New Hampshire is the first to go in the second race, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1140 metres with Jamie Mott aboard.

“It’s his second run this time in and he’s better for his first-up effort at Pakenham where he showed early speed before tiring late,” Mike said.

"He'll present fitter today and I expect him to run well."

Squeak runs in the fourth race over 1240 metres under Fred Kersley.

“I was pleased with his first-up run at Pakenham where he finished fourth over 1000 metres three weeks ago and he’s pleased me since,” Mike said.

"He's fitter for tonight and the extra trip is in his favour."

Myrtle Creek makes her Australian debut in the sixth race over 1440 metres with Daniel Stackhouse riding.

“She’s had a run at Te Rapa before getting here and she’s settled in well,” Mike said.

“Her run was better than it appears on paper as, although she finished eighth, she was only beaten two lengths in a blanket finish.

“She’s drawn barrier one here which should be a help and while it’s always difficult to compare the form I’m happy with our mare, she’s training well and it will be interesting to see where she fits in over here.”
