Three runners for us at Sale today after a quiet week.

Shatusla is the first to go in race three, the Maiden Plate over 1500metres with Robbie Downey to ride.

It is the third run this preparation for the daughter of Vancouver.

“She’s nice and fit but she has to improve,” Mike said. “That said, she has not been beaten that far in her last two starts after racing on the speed and she steps up to 1500 for the first time today.

Memphis (pictured) is in race five over 2200 metres with Tom Prebble aboard and reducing her weight down to 59kg.

“I wanted to help her with the weigh as she is not the biggest mare,” Mike explained.

“”She’s had a tick over jumpout since her first-up run and I’d say the trip will not b a bother for her.

“This is the easiest race we’ve run her in since she’s been in Australiia, if she reproduced her European form you would think she would be winning so provided it is a truly run rac I’m expecting her to be competitive.”

General Firepower rounds out the day in race sixover 1400 metres with Jordan Childs riding.

“He only has five to beat now after the scratching but it still a solid race for a Friday benchmark,” Mike said.

“He’s nice and fit, I can’t fault him and he’s another that with ordinary luck I expect to be in the finish.”
