2:42 p.m. R1 20 Rhodesian (5 g Rip Van Winkle – Laezeel, by Zabeel) – Cameron Lammas; remained back when resuming in the Maiden 1600 metres here on 3 January and steps up in the $14,000 Maiden 2000 metres. Likely to appreciate increased distance, but required to improve. Fixed odds: $15.00 & $3.80.

5:02 p.m. R5 8 Inchaarj (4 m Iffraaj – Stray, by Tale of the Cat) – Cameron Lammas; resumed with good second in the Maiden 1400 metres on 7 December at Hastings, and ran fastest last 600m (34.4) for close third in the Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1400 metres on 28 December at Rotorua. Going well, form on home course, blinkers on, but required to handle the footing. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.10.

Co-trainer Pam Gerard said: “Rhodesian is going around, up in distance, despite the heavy going. Quite a few have scratched, so taking the opportunity to get a second-up run into him.”

“Inchaarj worked well recently on wet ground with blinkers on, so although no race experience as yet on heavy we have decided to roll the dice. She does race well on her home track.”
