NICE RUNNERS AT GEELONG TODAY

We have five horses heading to Geelong today as we look to keep our winning run going with nine winners so far this month.

Mighty Sapphire is the first to go in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1200 metres with Jamie Mott aboard.

The son of Russian Revolution has always shown ability and has progressed physically during his spell.

"He's had a nice break and he's trialled up nicely," Mike said. "He's one that we've always liked a bit and he's forward enough for his first run this campaign.”

“He’s drawn out a bit so Jamie’s going to have to work it out but the horse has matured and is going well so I’m expecting him to run well with ordinary luck.”

Exzello is in race five over 1500 metres with John Allen riding. The son of Shamexpress won his maiden impressively in New Zealand in April however, Mike was left scratching his head after his first-up sixth placing in a Pakenham BM64 on November 4.

"It was a bit of a mystery, his first run here," Moroney said. "He was very disappointing but he seems to have come on all right and he's been a lot better (at home) than what he raced first-up."

“He’s drawn a better barrier today and is on firmer surface so I’m expecting him to run a lot better.”

Our Total Recall runs in the fourth race over 1500 metres with Fred Kersley in the saddle.

“She’s drawn 10 out of 11 but she’s got speed and I’d prefer to go forward as she doesn’t really have a lot of change up speed,” Mike explained.

“It’s come up a stronger race than I would expect fo a Wednesday but she’s nice and fit and provided she can get some luck from the draw I’m expecting her top be competitive.”

Sigourney (pictured) starts a new preparation in race seven over 1300 metres and she has pleased Mike with her training going into it.

“She’s strengthened up a lot and her jumpouts and trackwork have been terrific,” Mike said.

”She’s got a bit of a tricky draw but she’s shown good gate when she’s fresh and even though the distance today is short of her best if you go by her trackwork then she will run well.”

Horace rounds out or day in race eight over 1700 metres with Jordan Childs aboard but drawn one from the outside.

“I’m hoping that being out might be the place to be by the end of the day,” Mike said, “His work has been good and he’s nice and fit.

“The trip might be a tad on the short side but he’s right in the race and with an ounce of luck I’m sire he will be in the finish.”
