WEDNESDAY WINNING CHANCES AT BENDIGO

Four runners for us at Bendigo today with Ocean Chief staying home.

Rugged Woman and Our Total Recall both run in the first race, the Fillies and Mares Maiden over 1600 metres with Robbie Downey riding Rugged Woman and Michael Dee aboard Our Total Recall and Mike Moroney is anticipating forward showings from both.

“I’m happy with both of them,” Mike said. “Our Total Recall has done well from her first-up run at Mornington and I’m looking forward to getting her on a good surface where I think we will see the best of her.

“She’s drawn nicely and with natural improvement I will be disappointed if she is not amongst the money.”

“Rugged Woman is first-up and has prepped up well enough,” Mike said. “She should be suited by the trip and while she will improve on whatever she does today she has worked well coming into this and I’m expecting her to run well.”

“He’s deep into the campaign but is holding his condition well,” Mike said. “He’s drawn nicely, his last start at Caulfield was respectable on a heavy track and a repeat of that will be enough to see him figure in the finish.

Asteroidea rounds out the day in race nine over 1400 metres with Jordan Childs to ride.

“She’s second-up today and has taken good improvement from her first-up effort when fourth at Ballarat,” Mike said. “The scratchings have got her into the race and she’ll jump from barrier seven.

“It looks a pretty decent race for this class with five last start winners engaged so she will need to be at her best. That said her best will be good enough to have her in the finish here so with ordinary luck I’m expecting her to run well.”

Mike has elected to scratch Ocean Chief from the last race after drawing wide and wait for a better opportunity.
