EMISSARY AND SNAPPER IN FEATURE RACES AT GEELONG

Emissary and Snapper head our four runners in feature races at Geelong today.

Emissary (pictured) runs in the Geelong Cup over 2400 metres with Blake Shinn to ride. The import has raced well in his three starts this preparation and Mike Moroney is looking forward to today’s race with the horse back on good ground.

“It’s great to get him back on good ground which will make a difference after his last two starts on rain affected ground,” Mike said.

“We’ll find out if he can get a strong 2400 metres today. He’s in good form and all going well I’m expecting him to run well.”

Snapper is in the Dual Choice Plate over 1200 metres with Mark Zahra aboard.

“He’s really well and has come on nicely for the first-up run,” Mike said. “I can’t fault him, I think today will bring him on again.

“I know he’s not at his preferred track at Moonee Valley but he’s in good order and I expect him to be in it for a long way.”

Nordic and Lady In The Sky both run in the first race over 2400 metres with Mark Zahra riding Nordic and Fred Kersley on Lady In The Sky.

Nordic has drawn barrier four which will suit. “He’s bred to get a trip and being back on a good track will make a difference,” Mike said.

“He’s done enough at home on the track and he’s got a few things in his favour so he’s there to run well with no excuses.”

Lady In The Sky has made the race after scratchings but has drawn wide unfortunately.

“She can be a bit tardy at the start sometimes but we will just have to see what she does, if she jumps she can press forward if not then we’ll likely have to go back,” Mike said.

“She’s nice and fit, I’ve changed to a one-eye blinker to see if that helps her and if she can get the right run she is certainly good enough to win a race like this.”
