GOOD CHANCES FOR US ON A GROUP 1 SUNDAY

Bermadez, Catalyst and Not An Option represent us on a Group 1 Sunday at Sandown.

Bermadez (pictured) is the first to go in the third race over 1700 metres with Damien Oliver in the saddle and Mike Moroney is anticipating a strong performance.

“The track has improved with a fine day yesterday but there should still be some give in it which will suit,” Mike said.

“I haven’t done a great deal with him as he’s best kept fresh. He’s nice and bright and well in himself.

“This does look a winnable race for him I think, Ollie on with the one little niggle the awkward draw but with ordinary luck I do expect him to be hard to beat.”

Catalyst and Not An Option both run in the last race, the Testa Rossa Stakes over 1300 metres.

Mark Zahra is aboard Catalyst who has taken good improvement from his first-up run at Moonee Valley.

“He looks terrific and has really come on for his first-up run,” Mike said. “His work has been good, I can’t fault him, he’s tightened up, everything is good with him.

“The wide draw is a bit tricky, I suspect he will need to take a sit if he can but he’s really well and I expect him to run a big race.”

Patrick Moloney is aboard Not An Option.

“This has turned up a pretty strong race but both our horses are well,” Mike said. “There looks a bit of speed in it and he’s finally drawn a decent barrier.

“If he can take advantage of it and park just behind the speed then Patrick will be able to produce him in the straight and I expect him to be in the finish.”
