REFRESHING DEBUTS TODAY

Refreshing and Tequila Spirit represent us on the Synthetic track at Ballarat today.

Refreshing makes her debut in race two, the 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate over 1100 metres with Jordan Childs aboard from the outside barrier and Mike Moroney is happy with the way the daughter of Star Turn has prepared.

“The barrier is awkward, there looks to be a bit of early speed in it but she has shown us good gate speed at home,” Mike said.

“She’s had a jump out at Flemington on the synthetic and handled it well, albeit these synthetic tracks are all different and race pressure is different to trial pressure.

“She’s forward enough to run well, she’s just going to need a bit of luck from the barrier but if she does land in the right spot then I’m expecting her to run well.”

Tequila Sunset runs in race seven, the benchmark 58 handicap over 1200 metres and also with Jordan Childs riding.

“With the scratchings she will jump from barrier 10 which is not ideal but she usually starts well so she should be able to get across,” Mike said.

“She’s trained on well - she’s had a little bit of time between runs but this looked the right race for her which is why we waited.

“She will just need some luck from the draw but all things being equal I’m sure she will run well and I think she is a good winning chance.”
