Squeak, Thunderball Jack and Philadelphia Storm are our Wednesday runners at Geelong.

Squeak is the first to in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1118 metres with Jordan Childs aboard and is fitter following his debut run on a heavy track at Mornington in June.

“He’s come on for that debut run and the firmer track today should suit him,” Mike said. “He can be a bit keen and we’ve changed some of his gear, taking the cross-over off and replacing it with a norton bit and we will put ear muffs on him for the mounting yard.

“He’s got ability and has drawn nicely in three so with some natural improvement and the gear changes I can see him running a better race today in a maiden where there is some city form.”

Thunderball Jack runs in race four, the Maiden Plate over 1418 metres, also with Jordan Childs riding.

“He got a bit tired late at his first start here a just over a fortnight ago and he will present fitter today,” Mike said.

“I have added blinkers to help him focus. He’s drawn barrier nine in a big field so luck in running will play a part.

“The likely favourite is Only Human with some city form and the Tasmanian visitor looks interesting so there is a bit of depth in the race.

“Our horse is fitter and with the blinkers on I am expecting him to run an improved race.”

Philadelphia Storm (pictured) rounds out our day in race five, the benchmark 64 handicap over 1518 metres with Zac Spain riding.

“I must admit I have been disappointed in his last two starts at Caulfield and Flemington where he was plain,” Mike said.

“He's down in class and his best form will see him win this but he has to produce it. I can’t fault the horse, he’s got Zac Spain back aboard and drawn well in barrier three and there does not appear a huge amount of early speed in the race looking at the map so he’s there today without any excuses.”
