King Halston The Good Fight and Keats are our Saturday runners at Moonee Valley with King Halston the first to go in the fourth race.

Linda Meech is aboard in the 2040 metre event and drawn barrier 10 after scratchings and Mike Moroney says the son of Reliable Man is close to winning his first race in Australia after finishing third last start over 2000 metres at Caulfield (pictured).

“”The ground should not be an issue for him and I couldn’t be happier with him,” Mike said. “I think it’s the best I have had him here and his work on Tuesday was terrific.

“A good start is essential for him as I’d like to press forward and race on the speed if we can, the draw is my one concern but if we can get some luck in running I think he will be hard to beat.”

Keats runs in the fifth race over 2500 metres with Craig Newitt to ride. “We wanted Craig on as he’s a strong rider and a natural left-handed whip rider which we think will suit the horse.

“We’re keen to go forward as he is a bit one-paced and while his Irish form doesn’t suggest it I have always thought he is more of a stayer so today really is up to him.

“I’m happy with him, he’s worked up nicely so today it is up to him.”

The Good Fight resumes in the eighth race, the Travis Harrison Cup over 1600 metres with Logan McNeil to ride.

“He’s had a nice break and I’m really happy with him,” Mike said. “He pleased me with his last jump out and it’s just a pity he’s drawn a bit awkwardly.

“He looks great and if he can enjoy an economical run I can see him running well at big odds as he is in good form and looks terrific.”
