TWO STAYING FILLIES TO RUN FOR US TODAY

Heavan and Sassolino are our Friday runners as we aim to keep our winning run this month continuing.

Heavan (pictured) runs at Geelong in the fifth race, Mike Moroney happy to step the Snitzel filly up to 2455 metres against older horses.

“I’m really happy with her, she worked nicely with So You See on Tuesday and is certainly heading in the right direction,” Mike said.

“The wide draw is less than ideal but we’ll have to go back and look for her to run on. She is out of a Queensland Oaks winner in Provocative and we’re using today to see if she will be suited by the distance.

“She’s improving all the time, it’s just a pity about the draw but I’m looking forward to seeing what she can do today.”

Sassolino runs later tonight in the fourth race at Cranbourne and Mike is expecting the daughter of Tavistock to benefit from the experience on debut with Zac Spain aboard.

“She’s been improving all the time and still needs to strengthen up but she’s ready to go to the races,” Mike said.

“I chose to go this trip first-up to try and give her a chance to settle. The short course jump outs here are not the best for staying types.

“I’d like to see her relax, settle midfield and then finish the race off but Zac will take care of that and it’s good to get this filly out and going.”
