BIG GOOD FRIDAY AT SALE

A busy Good Friday for us with five horses making the trek to Sale.

Snapper was beaten less than three lengths last start in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes and he runs for us in race six, the $500,000 Country Discovery over 1100 metres with Patrick Moloney aboard.

“It’s a competitive race as you would expect for the prizemoney but he’s coming into this with a terrific effort last start at Group level,” Mike said.

“He’s drawn nicely, he doesn’t have to lead and can take a sit if necessary, he’s in good order and dropping from weight-for-age company into a handicap so I think he’s a very good each-way chance.”

Star Of Eden starts the day in race three, the Country Oaks over 2200 metres with Craig Newitt to ride. The four-year-old led most of the way last start when finishing second to Yonce over 2000 metres at Flemington.

“I’m really happy with her and she’s trained on extremely well with the time between races,” Mike said.

“The trip is my only question mark but provided she can relax, especially if she can get an uncontested lead, then I think she is a great chance.”

The consistent Iridessa has finished in the first three at her last three starts and is in race four over 2200 metres with Michael Poy riding.

“She’s racing well and has drawn well today,” Mike said. “It’s good prizemoney for this level so it’s a stronger race than you would normally expect for this class.

“She’s well in herself and fit so I’m sure she will give a good account of herself.”

Ocean Chief is in race five, the Up And Comers over 1717 metres under Jordan Childs.

“Our horse is training well and although he’s taking a step up a little in class I think he will prove up to it,” Mike said.

“He’s well in himself and fit, the Lindsay Park import looks the one to beat but our horse is more than handy and with ordinary luck I expect him to be right in the finish.”

Our promising filly So You See (pictured) rounds out or day in race eight, the benchmark 64 handicap over 1600 metres with Jamie Mott to ride.

“The big track will be in her favour, she just couldn’t cope with the tight turns at Moonee Valley last start, and I’m happy with her - I wanted to run her at a big track in contrast to the Caulfield option on Saturday,” Mike said.

“She looks super, is holding her condition and provided they are able to make ground then I’m expecting her to be the one they have to beat on her way to the Australasian Oaks.”
