TREBLE ON FRIDAY KEEPS THE WINNING RUN GOING

A treble and a city double kept the winning run continuing for Ballymore Stables on Friday.

Heart Of A Lion comfortably broke her maiden at Sale then later at Moonee Valley Nerve Not Verve and Snapper both saluted.

Nerve Not Verve was given a positive ride by apprentice Logan McNeil and the mare responded, leading for most of the way over the 2040 metre and defying all attempts to run her down.

“I thought she was terrific, her previous start is still a mystery to me but tonight was her night and she did the job in great style,” Mike said.

“Logan gave her a great ride and the mare won with authority.

“She’s in good order and she normally holds her form so we’ll look for a suitable stakes race for her now.”

Snapper (pictured) also led for most of the way in the last race of the night over 1200 metres to have his trainer smiling.

“He flew the gates and was able to cross and i thought he had them beaten on the home turn,” Mike said.

“It’s taken a bit of work to get him right physically and he’s still improving - the blinkers helped focus him and I thought it was a dominant win and I think he can pick up a couple more before getting to open class.”
