WINNING CHANCES ON SUNDAY

Winning chances for us at Moe and Ballarat for us on Sunday.

Arctic Stone and Rugged Woman run in the first race at Moe over 1628 metres with Robbie Downey aboard Arctic Stone and Liam Riordan on Rugged Woman.

Arctic Stone has finished third at her last two starts and Mike Moroney is anticipating another good effort today.

“She’s racing well and making her own luck on the speed,” Mike said.

“She’s drawn nicely again here in barrier three and it’s her first try out at the distance. Ideally she can take advantage of the barrier and be on pace again and with ordinary luck I’d expect her to be hard to beat.

Rugged Woman is first-up here after making her debut on the synthetic track at Ballarat last June.

“She’ll be better off on the turf here and she’s come back stronger this time in,” Mike said.

She’s had a jumpout to get her ready and should be better suited by this distance. This looks a good race to start her off and I will be interested to see how she fares this time around.”

Kentucky Ruler is in the second race at Ballarat over 1600 metres for 3YO Maidens with Luke Nolan in the saddle.

“He drew wide and we had to go back last start at Pakenham and got stuck behind runners in the home straight but he’s drawn to advantage here,” Mike said.

“His first-up run was good and I’m happy with the horse.

“There looks a bit of form in this race so he’ll need to be at his best in this valuable VOBIS race. He’s got a few things in his favour today so I’m looking for him to run well.”
